If you were there early Saturday at the 10th Annual Polar Plunge at Moorman Lake in Quincy you know how thick the ice was and how hard the Quincy Fire Department worked to open the water at the beach area.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge will be held this Saturday at Moorman Lake in Upper Moorman Park in Quincy.  There is still time to sign up to "plunge" by going to www.plungeillinois.com. If you raise $75 or more you will also receive a nice hooded sweatshirt for helping Special Olympics Illinois.

Special Olympics-Illinois and local law enforcement will be holding a special fundraising event at Buffalo Wild Wings called Tip-A-Cop Night on Wednesday, February 5 from 5 to 9 p.m.

The public is invited to attend the 2013 Torch Run for Leg 3 in West Central Illinois Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. The run will begin at Transitions of Western Illinois at 631 North 48th Street in Quincy.

I am always amazed at why people would like to plunge into a freezing body of water yet they do it year after year.  They did it again this past Saturday for the 9th consecutive year with the Polar Plunge to raise monies for the Special Olympians in West Central Illinois.

The Polar Plunge for Special Olympics is this Saturday at Moorman Lake in Quincy. Over 300 people will be plunging into the lake at 12 noon Saturday and there is still time to sign up.

The Quincy Police Department and Buffalo Wild Wings in Quincy are teaming up Monday night to help Special Olympics. It's "Tip A Cop" night this Monday night at Buffalo Wild Wings at 6120 Broadway in Quincy.

Got a great news release today from the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. This event was held statewide this past Friday, the 44th anniversary of the beginning of Special Olympics. Quincy police Department personnel and volunteers from the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association were at various intersections in Quincy on July 20th collecting money for Special Olympics Illi
