Great Year for The Culver-Stockton Wildcat Basketball Team
With the college basketball season winding down with the NCAA tournament it is time to reflect on what just happened in Canton, Missouri this past basketball season. For the first time since 1959, The Culver-Stockton men’s basketball team made it to the N.A.I.A. National Tournament.
The excitement was barely noticeable at the start of the season but it became apparent early that this team was something special. As the year progressed, the fan support escalated at the “Harvard on the Hill” as my late friend John Tripp would say. That was evident by the support the team saw from their fans in Kansas City, the site of the National Tournament.
The Wildcats won their first two games in KC to make it to the final eight before bowing out with a loss to the eventual National Championship winners Georgetown, Kentucky. That loss ended a fabulous season with 26 wins and 9 losses.
As a result of their strong finish, Culver-Stockton ended up being ranked 10th in the National N.A.I.A. Division 1 postseason Top 25 coaches poll.
Congratulations to Culver-Stockton and all of their fans at the “Harvard on the Hill”.
