The Hannibal Police Department and the Hannibal Parks Department would like to inform the community that due to the dangers of fallen debris, brought by the recent storm, Riverview Park is closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
The City of Hannibal will be helping residents clean up from Monday night's devastating storm by providing curb-side cleanup for tree debris, but residents are asked not block streets and sidewalks with this material.
Clean up continues in and around Hannibal following severe storms last night that resulted in significant damage. Marion County Emergency Management Director John Hark estimated that "most" of the city, perhaps as much as 80%, was affected in some way by the storm. Summer is nearly upon us! Final preparations are being made for National Tom Sawyer Days, which will be from July 3 - 6 in downtown Hannibal. There are so many different types of activities planned during that time. Official events like the Fence Painting Contest and Frog Jump Contest draw enthusiasts year after year, and unofficial events that coincide with Tom Sawyer Days, like Mud Volleyball and the Hannibal Cannibal, are also among the activities our community loves to support. To be a Hall of Famer is one thing but to be named a Sports Legend in the State of Missouri is another. I recently received an invitation to travel to Springfield, Missouri to attend the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Banquet to witness former St. Louis Cardinal Rightfielder/Third Baseman and current Cardinal Broadcaster Mike Shannon be named the 26th Missouri Sports Legend for the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.

The Missouri Department of Transportation ( MoDOT ) has temporarily closed US 61 at Alexandria in Clark County due to water over the road. A marked detour is in place to advise motorists of the road closure and alternate routes.
Monday, April 22 through Thursday, April 25, 2013, MoDOT will be working on the Champ Clark Bridge over the Mississippi River at Louisiana, Missouri. Crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with flagmen controlling traffic through the work zone area.
