So, as you’re now well aware, the Cardinals Caravans scheduled for Friday and Saturday have been cancelled due to impending inclement weather—including tour stops in Hannibal (Friday) and Quincy (Saturday).

I know, I’m as heartbroken as you. This will be my first year missing out on the Caravan since moving to Quincy in 2009. BUT there are still plenty of opportunities to talk baseball with the experts and score some autographs before Opening Day gets here.

Q.U. Hall of Fame Adds 1954-55 Men’s Basketball Team & Postiglione

The Quincy University Athletic Hall of Fame Committee announced the 2017 Hall of Fame class at a news conference in the University’s Hall of Fame Room. The University will formally induct Dick Thompson and his 1954-55 men’s basketball team members along with former women’s soccer coach Bill Postiglione into the Hall of Fame at an honorary breakfast on Saturday, February 18. The 1954-55 team and Postiglione will also be recognized during halftime of the Q.U. men’s basketball game against William Jewell that afternoon.

Is This The End for the Hannibal Cavemen?

UPDATE: It's official. In a release on Friday, the Prospect League states that "The DuPage Drones (Lisle, Ill.) and Hannibal Cavemen (Hannibal, Mo.) franchises have elected to suspend operations for the 2017 season. Both franchises are expected to resume operations and begin playing again starting with the 2018 season at locations to be determined."

Just Who Were the Quincy Crybabies?

As a huge baseball fan, I find myself watching Ken Burns' Baseball series with keen interest on the Major League Baseball Network. The MLB Network has been airing segments of the series in recent days and I just can't pull myself away from the TV. Such was the case Sunday when I heard John Chancellor, the narrator of the program, mention how baseball in the years of 1910 to 1920 was blossoming and he went on to mention towns and their team names that were popular including the "Quincy Crybabies."
