The Friends of the Log Cabins are seeking help to raise the funds, needed to restore the Lincoln-era Log Cabins on Quinsippi Island. They are looking for people to participate in the first annual “Walk for the Log Cabins."

The walk will be held on Saturday morning, September 14 at the Log Cabin Village. If you register by September 3 you will receive a souvenir T-Shirt. Registration and donations forms are available at the Quincy Park District, Emerald City Jewelers, Farm and Home, and online at www.logcabinvillagequincyil.com. For every $50 raised, over the initial $50, participant’s names will be entered into a drawing to win a used eZip 500 Electric Scooter or other major prizes.

The "Walk for the Log Cabins" will go from the Log Cabin Village through the Marina past the former Sky Ride and Indian Museum buildings to the large Flag pole at the end of Quinsippi Island and then return to the village - about a 1 1/2 mile walk.

After the event participants are encouraged to stay and attend the 5th annual "free" Frontier Settlement Day, where there will be displays and re-enactors who will be showing how early settlers use to live, work, play and pray.

The Friends hope to raise enough funds to re-build the Clat Adams Log Cabin which had to be disassembled, due to advanced deterioration. The Friends hope to rebuild this cabin in the spring of 2014.
