The Batting Cage is Open and The Big Dog is Ready

With the advent of the 2016 baseball season upon us, the bug has been hitting me for weeks. The bug to go to the batting cage and smash some baseballs around is attacking me like I would a fastball. The bad news was that the Quincy Park District’s Batting Cage at Upper Moorman Park has been closed. The good news is that it will open for the season today at 3:30 p.m.

‘Elvin Tappe Lane’ at Q.U. Stadium Needs to Happen

In January of 2013 the Quincy Park District announced that their new park on Bonansinga Drive would be known as Lincoln Park. The Park District had asked the public to submit names to be considered and you can’t go wrong with the name of Lincoln. I had submitted the name of Elvin Tappe. So Elvin lost out to Lincoln, but so did Steven Douglas.

Ameren Illinois has contributed $10,000 to the Trees for Tomorrow campaign to help the City of Quincy replace trees that were destroyed by a mid-July storm. Ameren Illinois made the announcement at a news conference this morning at Madison Park in Quincy.

Future Hawk Sports Camp Returns From QU, Quincy Park District

The Quincy Park District and the QU University Athletic Department have good news. The Quincy University Athletic Department is bringing back the Future Hawk Sports Camp this winter starting on Wednesday, October 7, 2015. The Camp runs 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday nights from October 7 to November 11 at the QU Health and Fitness Center.
