QFD Holding Their Fire Prevention Week Kickoff Sunday

In conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, the Quincy Fire Department will be holding their Annual Fire Prevention Week Kickoff event on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Quincy Mall. Shortly thereafter, it was determined that they all took Tylenol capsules that were laced with cyanide. The year was 1982. That was two years before the name Dr. Michael Swango became newsworthy.

The 2014 "Firefighters for a Cause" T-Shirts are now available at the Central Fire Station in Quincy at 906 Vermont. This dark grey t-shirt, designed by firefighter Mike Dade, features a full black logo with the breast cancer ribbon dressed as a firefighter performing an automobile extrication. The proceeds from the sale of these shirts will go to the Blessing Cancer Center's Financial Assistance Program.
