Weather Scams Reported in Marion County

(PALMYRA)—Marion County Sheriff’s deputies say they’ve gotten two different reports of individuals contacting senior citizens and attempting to perform work on lightning rods at their residence.

Sheriff Jimmy Shinn says these individuals are taking advantage of recent stormy weather to scare people into believing the work needs to be done immediately. Shinn says it’s a good idea to have these individuals checked out before they do any work and to not give them any money until they’ve been investigated and found to be a legitimate business.
