For 29 years fans of the Kansas City Royals have waited for a post season game and now the Royals have made their way to game one of the World Series tonight in Kansas City. So now the dilemma begins for the Royal fans. Do I mortgage the house to buy a World Series ticket of should I stay home and watch it on TV.
With the start of the World Series comes some interesting moves in the radio business. A few months ago, Lorde came out with a song called 'Royals,' and it was written about former Kansas City Royals third baseman George Brett. It has sparked a fued between the two cities.
Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a huge baseball fanatic. I will literally watch baseball all day long if I get a chance. I've watched 4 games in a day before. I watch the Little League World Series, the College World Series and any Major League Baseball game I can find the time for. I probably need an intervention.
Well apparently people other than me complained about the use of a swear word by Samual L. Jackson in a recent Capitol One Credit Card TV commercial. That commercial has been replaced minus the word.
Being a life long New York Yankee fan it was difficult to watch the Red Sox celebrate winning the 2013 World Series. You must give them credit in that they went from last place last year to winning it all this year. When you get right down to it, they outplayed the Cardinals and deserved to win it.
When it comes to television and the commercials that air on it, when is "enough is enough"? Here I am watching the World Series and between innings an ad for the Capital One Credit Card came on featuring Samuel L. Jackson as their spokesperson. Now I happen to like the work of Samual Jackson as an actor but near the end of this particular commercial Jackson sternly looks into the camera
Major League baseball is underway with its post season play so I thought this would be a good time for me to take a look at how my pre-season picks went for this baseball year and pick the World Series winner.
Ok, so the St. Louis Cardinals will have the home field advantage throughout the National League playoffs. Is it an advantage if Edward Mujica is on the mound? Should Mujica be on the playoff roster? That's the number one question in St. Louis and I wouldn't want to be Cardinal Manager Mike Matheny who will be making that decision.
It was one of the greatest pitching performances in World Series history and it happened 45 years ago today as Bob Gibson of the St. Louis Cardinals struck out 17 Detroit Tiger batters in Game One of the World Series in St. Louis.
