The 2016 Dogwood Festival weekend is rapidly approaching and this year's event is jam packed with activities. This year's festival will be held in Quincy April 28 through May 1. Listed below are all of the scheduled activities as part of the Dogwood Festival.

The City of Quincy will continue its 175th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, October 3 when the Quincy Fire Department will hold a parade of fire fighting apparatus down Maine Street. The public is invited to the parade of fire trucks beginning at 1 p.m. that Saturday beginning at 12th and Maine to proceeding to 5th and Maine Streets.

The next to last Blues in the District concert  for the summer of 2015 will be held at Washington Park in Quincy this Friday with another wonderful blues band performing. The Jeremiah Johnson Band will entertain the crowd beginning at 5:30 Friday afternoon.

The July 2015 Lunch in the Park with Mayor Kyle Moore is set for July 14 from noon to 1 p.m.  in Washington Park at 5th and Maine Streets in Quincy.  This is the second in a series of three summer lunches that will be scheduled during 2015.

The annual Midsummer Arts Faire will take place in Quincy's Washington Park June 26-28. This free event has become a summertime favorite for residents and visitors to Quincy. The 2015 season of Blues in the District is underway at Washington Park. Blues in the District is a free summertime concert series presented by The District. Bruce Guthrie, Executive Director of The District, took a moment to answer a few of our questions about Blues in the District.

The first 2015 Lunch in the Park with Mayor Kyle Moore is set for Tuesday, June 16th, from noon to 1 p.m.  in Washington Park at 5th and Maine Streets.  This is the first in a series of three summer lunches that will be scheduled during 2015.

If anyone knows me, they know I love the blues. They also know that I am a fixture at the Blues in the District concerts and sit next to what is now known as the “Big Dog’s Rock” in Washington Park. For blues lovers out there the 2015 edition of Blues in the District starts tonight at 5:30 p.m.

The beauty of Quincy in early summer will be easily seen on Quincy Preserves “Behind the Garden Gate” tour taking place Saturday, June 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tour is being held in conjunction with the MidSummer Arts Faire.
