It was August 23, 2012.  I had a chance to get up early and enjoy the morning before heading to work and I was able to help a friend in need. So off to work I went feeling good about the day ahead. Then all of a sudden, I heard the "ping" noise on my computer at work alerting me of a new message.  For some reason it caught my attention. I don't know why. I get hundreds of messages and "pings" a week, but this one stood out. So I opened it and my heart dropped as I read it.

It was a morning in 1986 when I was working at 99-Q Radio with Dennis Oliver. He was just finishing up his morning show and I was beginning my mid-day stint (after working the morning show on WTAD earlier that morning). It was about a week before St. Patrick’s Day and I went up to D.O. and said we need to have a St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Quincy.

Let's see, we have the St.Patrick's Parade Saturday, The Blessed Sacrament St. Patrick's Dinner Saturday,  the Pub Crawl Saturday night, the Kelly's Fun Run for the YWCA on Sunday, The Irish Bowling event in St. Patrick, Missouri on Saturday, March 19 and a million other Irish-related activities this and next weekend.  As you can tell, some of these events are prior to and some after St. Patrick's Day which in Thursday, March 17. We have been saying for weeks now that the St. Patrick's Parade will be here before you know it, well "before you know" is here. The parade is tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Quincy and we would love for you to come down and watch it between 12th and 5th on Maine Street.
