St. Patrick's Parade

I miss my friend Tommy Murphy for everything he was...and it was all good! It's almost St. Patrick's Day again, my thoughts are with his four children and their families.

Let's see, we have a little thing called the St.Patrick's Parade on Saturday along with a million Irish-related parties and activities this weekend. If you are not Irish already you will be by Saturday.  With that said let's see just what you know about Ireland.

March has Spring written all over it. It's a green month and with that said, I made my annual weather prediction for the upcoming St. Patrick's Parade yesterday on the Y101 Radio Morning Show.

It was a morning in 1986 when I was working at 99-Q Radio with Dennis Oliver. He was just finishing up his morning show and I was beginning my mid-day stint (after working the morning show on WTAD earlier that morning). It was about a week before St. Patrick’s Day and I went up to D.O. and said we need to have a St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Quincy.

We have been saying for weeks now that the St. Patrick's Parade will be here before you know it, well "before you know" is here. The parade is tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Quincy and we would love for you to come down and watch it between 12th and 5th on Maine Street. It is time to sign up for the upcoming 30th Annual St. Patrick’s Parade to be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. The parade will start at 12th and Maine Streets and proceed to 5th and Maine Streets and is open to all businesses, organizations and individuals free of charge.

We had a great time Saturday during the St. Patrick's Parade in Quincy. Maine Street was packed! We were able to get pictures of a ton of people along the parade route. If you went to the parade, see if we got a shot of you and your family and friends!

The 2015 St. Patrick's Parade in Quincy is at 11 a.m. this Saturday! The forecast is looking pretty good. Partly cloudy skies, temps in the mid-60s. If you've signed up to be in the parade, you can check out the lineup here. Parade participants need to be ready by 10:30 Saturday morning.

It's been cold, really cold! Wind chill values have not only been below zero, but double digits below zero. I suppose it could be worse. We could be buried under several feet of snow, like the northeast. Even so, I'm sure that I'm not alone when I say that I'm ready for winter to be over...
