With the big Independence Day weekend coming up more and more people will be taking to boats on the Mississippi River which means more life jackets will need to be worn. Well the Quinsippi Yacht Club has just made life jackets available for free checkout at the Quincy Park District gas docks in the Art Keller Marina.  Those needing a life jacket can leave a deposit and borrow the jacket for the day.

“The Quinsippi Yacht Club’s mission is to promote boating safety and this is one way that we help the general public to be safe.  The jackets are available in all sizes, infants to adults.  Many times when you have guests in your boat you find you need one more life jacket or a different size than what you have on board.  The QYC has them available for you! “ states Quinsippi Yacht Club Commodore, Maureen Kamphaus.

The Quinsippi Yacht Club is comprised of boat and personal watercraft owners from throughout the area with members from as far away as Keokuk, IA, Meredosia, IL and Louisiana, MO.  Members boat sizes range from 17 feet to indefinite and the majority are not classified as yachts.  For information on membership and the club’s other activities go to their web site www.quinsippi.com.
