It's usually spring when most people do their serious cleaning, but Quincy Community Theatre is doing theirs this weekend, and they're looking for some help from the community.

The Big Clean is coming up on Saturday, August 22 from 9-1 at the Oakley Lindsay Center. According to QCT, "Volunteers of all ages will step in time with different cleaning crews as they sweep up in preparation for the end of the 2015 Season. Each team will focus on several major projects in one of five main areas: Costumes, Props, Scene Shop, Rehearsal Hall/Backstage, and the Main Stage. Help is needed with everything from organizing to scrubbing floors to even throwing out old set pieces, so volunteers are encouraged to come dressed in their grimiest chimney sweep attire. Once the work is completed, this fun-filled day will end with a celebratory potluck meal for all of THE BIG CLEAN volunteers."

Quincy Community Theatre points out that The Big Clean is an excellent opportunity for those needing to acquire volunteer hours for service organizations, and it is also a great way for new volunteers to get acquainted with the QCT Staff, Board Members, performers, and other volunteers. Participants are encouraged to bring a side dish of their choice.

A full list of volunteer areas and teams can be found at www.1qct.org. Volunteers are not required to work a specific time frame or number of hours. Signing up is not required, but is encouraged. To sign-up and let QCT know what side dish you’re bringing, call the QCT Box Office at (217) 222-3209.
