New Illinois Law Prohibits Anyone Under 18 to Use a Tanning Bed

Every year at this time we start hearing about the new laws that will go into effect with the new year.  We have heard a lot about the hands free cell phone that is needed to talk on your phone while driving but we, or at least I, haven't heard anything about Illinois House Bill 188 which is an amendment which amends the Tanning Facility Permit Act. This new Illinois law states that tanning facilities may not permit any person  less than 18 years of age to use tanning equipment or a device defined as equipment that emits ultraviolet radiation used for tanning of the skin, such as a sunlamp, tanning booth or tanning bed.

This law will go into effect even if a parent or guardian OK's a person under the age of 18 to use a tanning device.
