Quincy Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Amy Looten has announced that the Commerce will again offer a $10,000 prize to the winner of its Business Plan Competition in 2014. All for-profit businesses in any field, including start-up companies as well as expansions of existing companies, are eligible to compete.

There is no cost to participate in the competition. Each contestant must submit an entry form by April 15, 2014, and the first draft of their Business Plan to the Chamber by June 2.  A selection committee will review the plans, and up to five business plans will be invited to submit final drafts and make oral presentations in the final round. Judging will be based on concept and innovation, viability, economic impact and the oral presentation.

The Chamber initiated this competition in 2012, in recognition of its 125th anniversary, to foster new business initiatives as well as business expansions in Adams County. Past winners have included WoodStove-FireplaceGlass.com, an online supplier of fireplace glass and wood stove replacement glasses in 2013; and Golden Bridges, a service oriented company that coordinates various aspects of moving for seniors, and Gem City Coffee, a coffee-roasting company in 2012. Each received up to $10,000 to assist with the opening/expansion of their businesses.

Packets of information about the competition are available at the Chamber office in the Oakley Lindsay Center during normal business hours. Information is also available at www.quincychamber.org.
