Adams County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program to Honor First Responders

A press release from John Wood Community College:

The Adams County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), sponsored by John Wood Community College, will honor local First Responders as part of the September 11, 2012 National Day of Service and Remembrance with “Bundles of Thanks”.

Adams County RSVP volunteers and staff will assemble and deliver “Bundles of Thanks” to local first responders throughout the area. Baskets will include home baked treats, snack items and thank you notes.

“Unfortunately it seems that our First Responders are only recognized with tragedy occurs.  This is our way of giving thanks and recognizing the men and women who work 24/7 to keep our community safe,” said Julie Bates, project director of Adams County RSVP.

In 2009, Congress designated September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance under bipartisan federal law, and charged the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) with helping to support this effort across the country.

More information about RSVP opportunities is available by contacting Bates at 217-641-4961.
