Quincy's Dogwood Festival is going to be so much fun, with music, the parade and activities in Washington Park!

The festival weekend is scheduled for May 1 - 3. This year, the City of Quincy is celebrating its 175th anniversary, and the theme for the 2015 Dogwood Parade will be #Quincy175. Dogwood Parade participants are encouraged to create floats that celebrate anniversaries or milestones of their companies and organizations. According to Amy Looten, executive director of the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce, people can take photos of their entries during construction while waiting for the parade to begin, and while walking on the parade route and post them to their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts tagged with #Quincy175. People can see and be apart of the celebration from near and far.

“We want the parade and our celebration weekend to be a trending topic across the country,” said Looten.

Parade entry forms have been e-mailed to last year’s participants and others may be obtained online at www.quincychamber.org. The cost is $25 per nonprofit entry and $50 for businesses. The deadline to enter the parade is April 17.

Organizations that plan to host a special event connected with Dogwood should call the Chamber to get their event on the master calendar.
