It is that time of year. The deer are running through the woods and in front of your car.

Deer-vehicle collisions are three times more likely to occur in the month of November, followed by October then December.

You might think that Illinois is the place where an individual driver is the most likely to run into a deer. West Virginia wins that contest. Illinois remains in the middle of the pack ranking 26th. Missouri is 15th, and Iowa comes in at 3rd!

But sometimes it feels like there are more deer than people on the roads. You see them everywhere and, sorry to say, many people get hurt when they run into one. So keep in mind that deer generally travel in herds.

So if you see one, there is a very strong possibility others are near by. Just something to keep in mind this holiday travel season.
