It happens this time of year when the snow and cold keeps donors inside their houses.

The Red Cross urges healthy, eligible donors to make an appointment to donate blood in the coming days and weeks. All blood types are currently needed to help maintain a diverse and sufficient blood supply. Especially types O negative, A negative and B negative.

Upcoming blood drives in the area are as follows:

  • Illinois Veterans Home on 1/27/2015 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., located at 1707 N. 12th in Quincy.
  • Golden, Illinois on 2/2/2015 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Adams Telephone Co-Op on Highway 94.
  • Liberty, Illinois on 2/5/2015 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St Bridgid's Catholic Church Hall, located at 704 North Main Street
  • John Wood Community College on 2/2/2015 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., located at 1301 South 48th Street in Quincy.
