What Was Your Favorite School Fundraiser? St. Dominic School’s Annual Junefest is Coming Up on June 22
Schools and school groups are always trying to raise money for a variety of worthy causes. It's pretty common to come across school kids selling anything from frozen foods to yearbook ads to magazine subscriptions. In fact, when you were in school, you probably also participated in fundraisers. What was your favorite?
I always hated selling those catalog items that seemed to come around every year. You know, the ones that promised all the cool prizes for the overachievers that sold two of everything. I was so bad I don't think I even won a sticker or an eraser. On the other hand, when I was in the high school art club, we used to do face painting for kids for donations, and I always though that was a lot of fun.
Maybe you worked the school carnival, or sold concessions at basketball games. There are hundreds of ways that schools have raised money over the years. What was the most enjoyable for you?
St. Dominic School in Quincy will be holding its biggest fundraiser of the year beginning at 5 p.m. on June 22, with their Junefest picnic. There will be a food tent with BBQ and roast beef sandwiches and homemade onion rings, in addition to games for kids and adults. A bounce house, a basket raffle, silent auction and BINGO will also be taking place. Live music is scheduled, as well, with Tim Hart playing from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., and Eleven playing from 8 p.m. until midnight. St. Dominic School is at 4100 Columbus Road in Quincy.
That sounds like a fundraiser that would be a good time!
