An Adams County Deputy escaped injury after an Ursa man rear-ended a parked squad car and pushed it into another vehicle.

The collision happened on Highway 24 near 12th Street. Illinois State Police report the deputy parked the squad car on the shoulder while assisting a motorist.

Around 10:50 p.m. Saturday night, 88-year-old Charles W. Bryson, Sr. of Ursa came up on the scene. Bryson’s car left the roadway and struck the squad car in the rear. The impact pushed the squad car into the vehicle parked in front of it. The deputy and the occupant of the car in front had exited their vehicles before the collision occurred.

Bryson and his 83-year-old passenger suffered moderate injuries and were taken to Blessing Hospital. Troopers charged Bryson with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
