Quincy Gems

The song came out in 1908 and it is played at almost every baseball game played in America, including the Hannibal Cavemen and the Quincy Gems games. It's the 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' song, and that song has single-handedly sent the sales of Cracker Jack through the roof.

If you like baseball and fireworks, the place to be is Q.U. Stadium Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Quincy Gems will be in action all three nights at 6:35 with fireworks following each game.

Local baseball returns to the area on May 28, when the Quincy Gems travel to Hannibal for a game against the Cavemen at Clemens Field. The Gems home opener at Q.U. Stadium is scheduled for Friday, May 30, and the second game of the season on June 1 will be the first Fireworks Night of 2014 at the ballpark.

Believe it or not, the 2014 edition of the Quincy Gems Baseball team will be taking the field on Wednesday, May 28 when they travel to Hannibal to meet the Hannibal Cavemen. It will also be the season and home opener for the Cavemen. The Gems first home game will be on Friday, May 30 when they meet Danville at Q.U. Stadium. That will also be "Y101 Night at the Ballpark".

The Quincy Gems are wrapping up their current season in West Virginia as they try to win the Prospect League Championship. Are they wrapping up the season or their existence? In many ways the Quincy Gems would have been better off to have finished 2nd in their division rather than winning the Western Division Championship.

Game one of the best of three Prospect League Championship series is set for tonight as the Quincy Gems host the West Virginia Miners at Q.U. Stadium. Tickets for the game go on sale at 5:30 at the stadium. The first pitch is set for 6:35.
