This is a great weekend in the Tri-States to teach children about how to fish and have fun. This weekend is Free Fishing Days, which means you don't have to have a license to fish. In Illinois and Iowa the dates are June 5 through June 8. In Missouri, Free Fishing Days are June 6 - 8.
I am sure the when the word came down this morning that D.O. and the Big Dog will be catching all of the fish in Moorman Lake Friday morning during our morning show, the Quincy Park District officials sat up and took notice. The concern is that the two of us will catch all of the fish in the lake ahead of Saturday's Fishing Rodeo at the same lake.
If you have listened to the Y101 Morning Show over the years you probably know that on Free Fishing Days Dennis Oliver and I would go out and fish live on the air. Sometimes we were at the Mississippi River. Other times at ponds and lakes in the area. Over the years I have caught a few fish during our live broadcast times, but Mr. Oliver has never caught a fish with me during those times or even during the off-air times. Not one fish has ever been harvested by him over a 20 or so on and off years of fishing with me.
Quincy's Fishing Rodeo is Saturday at Moorman Lake in Upper Moorman Park. Free Fishing Days in Illinois will be going on, so you won't need a license to fish in the event (or anywhere in Illinois). The Big Dog and I have decided to share some fish stories as we get ready for the Fishing Rodeo. Throughout all the years the Big Dog and I have gone fishing together, I've only ever caught one fish... sort of.
Quincy's annual Fishing Rodeo is Saturday at Moorman Lake. The Fishing Rodeo always takes place during Free Fishing Days in Illinois (where you are allowed to fish without a fishing license). People of all ages come out to fish with us during the Fishing Rodeo, and everyone always has a great time. To celebrate the Fishing Rodeo, the Big Dog and I have decided to share some fish stories. Like the time Dog had to fish our oars (I may have dropped them out of the boat) out of the water.
We're getting ready for the annual Fishing Rodeo on Saturday at Moorman Lake in Quincy. The Fishing Rodeo always takes place during Free Fishing Days in Illinois (where you are allowed to fish without a fishing license), and we look forward to seeing fishermen and fisher-ladies of all ages. To celebrate the Fishing Rodeo, the Big Dog and I have decided to share some fish stories. Here's what happened once when the Big Dog found an unexpected visitor in his boat.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge will be held this Saturday at Moorman Lake in Upper Moorman Park in Quincy. There is still time to sign up to "plunge" by going to www.plungeillinois.com. If you raise $75 or more you will also receive a nice hooded sweatshirt for helping Special Olympics Illinois.
