Madonna House

An Adams County Mobile Food Pantry will be held this Saturday (July 26) at 525 Jersey Street in Quincy. Some 12-thousand pounds of fresh produce and food items will be given out beginning at 10 am. at the Schmiedeskamp, Robertson, Neu & Mitchell LLP parking lot.

Madonna House was awarded $20,000 from “The Marion Gardner Jackson Charitable Trust” fund to support the Emergency, Transitional and Prevention Programs. Since 1988, Madonna House has provided a 24 hour supervised emergency and transitional shelter.

The Butcher Block is offering meat bundles to be purchased for the Madonna House Food Pantry. The $10.00 meat bundle include two lbs. of ground beef and pork mix, two lbs. of pork sausage, ten lbs. of potatoes, two lbs. ground deer meat (donation program) and two lbs. deer steak (donation program). This will make eight meals for a family of four.

TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) is collaborating with the Madonna House by hosting a food drive along with their Halloween & Costume Party on Saturday, October 26 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Quincy University North Campus / South Entrance at 18th & Seminary Road in Quincy. This event is for all area 15-21 year olds.

To earn their "Fun Badge" and "Philanthropy Badge", Girl Scout Troup # 5365 is holding a food drive in Quincy to help Madonna House.

Madonna House has been awarded a $2895.00 grant from Dot Foods.The grant will help to build a handicap ramp to help serve disadvantaged participants of  the Madonna House food pantry and process food donations.

I was talking with my friend Lori Bergman at Destination Travel this morning and we got on the topic of the Madonna House in Quincy.  This home for single Moms and their children from two to fourteen years of age is struggling as all non-profit organization are these day and could use some help.
