Quincy City Wide Clean Up is Saturday
It’s time to gather up all that junk you have been wanting to get rid of as Allied Waste Services has again been contracted by the City of Quincy to conduct the annual citywide cleanup. This year’s event will be held this Saturday from 6a.m. to 6p.m. The City of Quincy offers this annual event to assist residents in disposing of unwanted items that are not typically collected with weekly residential service. This year’s event will once again take place at the lot on Front and Delaware Streets.
According to the City of Quincy, to access the disposal site, residents can use Payson Avenue starting at Sixth Street and head west towards Front Street. The Quincy Police Department and employees of Allied Waste will direct vehicles to the disposal area. Residents will be required to show proof of address to gain access to the disposal area.
Although employees of Allied Waste will be on hand to help residents dispose of bulky or large items, residents will be directed to dispose of most smaller items themselves.
Based on past history, Allied Waste expects to haul off more than 417 tons, or nearly 260 loads, of discarded waste, and run approximately 2,114 vehicles through the site during this 12-hour event, requiring more than 60 employees and 35 pieces of equipment to complete the job.
