If you are a parent of a young child and looked at last Sunday's edition of the Herald-Whig, there is one story I hope you took the opportunity to read. The story, on page 1E of the FYI Parents section, involved kids swallowing the new "button batteries".

Some children are removing the battery covers on DVD's and other devices and swallowing the small batteries. According to the story, 14 children were treated for ingesting the tiny lithium batteries at a small Wauwatosa, Wisconsin hospital last year alone. Some 3,366 American children nationwide swallowed batteries in 2013 with four deaths directly related to those incidents.

Hopefully, as a parent you will never have to deal with this for your child but we just wanted you to be aware of it.
