On Thursday, October 12, 2000, while refueling at a port in Aden, Yemen, the U.S. Navy destroyer Cole was attacked by a two suicide bombers navigating a small motorboat full of explosives. The explosion killed 17 crew members and wounded 39 others.

Transportation Tax Amendment to Illinois Constitution on Ballot

With all the attention seemingly focused on the race for President of the United States, there is one item on the ballot in Illinois that should not go unnoticed by you the voter. On this year's ballot is a state constitutional amendment to the Illinois Constitution. The proposed amendment will add a new section to the Illinois Constitution providing revenue generated from the transportation related taxes and fees shall be used exclusively for transportation purposes.
