Join the Adams County League of Women Voters for an information forum regarding Q-TAP (Quincy Turn Around Partnership) this Wednesday, February 1, beginning at 7 p.m. with the doors opening at 6 p.m. The event will be held at the Quincy University MacHugh Theater, in the basement level of Francis Hall.

Q-TAP (Quincy Turn Around Partnership) is an anti-violence initiative modeled after the “Don’t Shoot” program in Peoria, Illinois.  The “Don’t Shoot” initiative was created by David Kennedy from John Jay College in New York.

In a nutshell, it’s targeting specific offenders of violent crime and giving them positive alternatives and resources to help them change their lives or face receiving the law enforcement consequences including long prison sentences.

The Adams County League of Women Voters would like to get the information in circulation with the expectation of receiving interest and support for the program from the Quincy community.
The panel explaining Q-TAP will include:  Quincy Police Chief Robert Copley, QPD Lt. Dina Dreyer, QPD Officer Nick Hiland, Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore, Adams County States Attorney Gary Farha and Sgt. Pat Frazier of the Illinois State Police.

This is an informal forum on reducing violent crimes in the City of Quincy with the assistance of community and agency partnership.  It’s in the beginning stages. It will include a question and answer period. This forum is open to everyone!
