Radio Feud Going on Between KC and SF Over Lorde's "Royals" Song.

With the start of the World Series comes some interesting moves in the radio business. A few months ago, Lorde came out with a song called 'Royals,' and it was written about former Kansas City Royals third baseman George Brett. It has sparked a fued between the two cities.

Lorde admitted that the song is based on an old National Geographic Magazine photo of Brett in his Royals' uniform, signing baseballs for his fans years ago. Once Brett heard of the story behind the song he sent her an autographed uniform. 'Royals' is a song that Y101 has played all summer long and periodically plays it now.

Well, in San Francisco, radio station KFOG has decided to embargo the song through the end of the World Series, which begins Tuesday in Kansas City. They said they are doing this because they didn’t want to send any positive vibes to the Kansas City Royals who host their San Francisco Giants in game one the best of seven event.

Meanwhile, after hearing what KFOG is doing, Kansas City radio station 99.7 The Point is making a point to up the ante by playing “Royals” one time every hour through game one of the World Series.

Perhaps the Kansas City Royals should ask Lorde to sing the National Anthem before Game One of the series.
