The next election day in Quincy and Adams County will be on Tuesday, April 7.  Unfortunately, the turnout will once again not be what it should be. How sad is it that we have people giving and/or risking their lives fighting for our democracy so we can have a say in our government, yet people don’t take the time to vote?

On the ballot will be the election of city aldermen, village trustees, school board, library board, John Wood Community College board, the new jail proposal and the Park District referendum.

The opportunity to register to vote ended on March 10. If you missed that opportunity, you can still make your vote count. You can still register at the Adams County Clerk’s office, but you must vote at the same time, according to County Clerk Chuck Venvertloh.

Early voting is still an option for registered voters as the early voting period began yesterday and runs through April 4.

So, if you call yourself an American, prove it. Make sure you vote on or before April 7.
