With the passing of legendary Stan Musial, a debate has arisen among some of my friends as to who is the greatest living St. Louis Cardinal? It has been interesting to read the emails I have received with the top three listed. Bob Gibson seems to be on top of the list of many.Listed below are the names of some who have been mentioned.  What would your top three be?

• Lou Brock

• Bob Gibson

• Whitey Herzog

• Tony LaRussa

• Mark McGwire

• Albert Pujols

• Red Schoendienst

• Mike Shannon

• Ozzie Smith

• Bruce Sutter

My top choice would probably be Bob Gibson, but he must be listed as number two on my list.. Gibson struck out a lot of batters during his career and he needed home plate to do it.  My number one choice is Glenn Brummer, who on August 22nd in 1982 stole third base and home plate with two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning to give the Cardinals a 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants. Brummer had only five career stolen bases. Now without home plate Gibson would be a nobody?  Glenn Brummer is my choice!

Seriously, who are your top three names?
