Quincy’s ‘Teenager’, Chuck Yates Would Have Been 67 Today

An icon in local radio, Chuck Yates, would have been 67 years old today. One can only wonder what would have gone on during his morning radio show today if he were still with us. I guarantee it would have been fun because that is what Chuck was all about.

Do You Remember Woolworth’s in Quincy?

It was on July 18, 1879 that F.W. Woolworth opened his first 5 and 10 cent store in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He sold no items for more than a dime. Unfortunately, he went broke a short time later. Miss You Buddy!

He was bigger than life. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, intelligent, humorous, predictable at times and unpredictable at other times, outspoken to say the least, a mentor to many, a wonderful Exchange Club member, a 1972 graduate and a huge supporter of Culver-Stockton College, a life long New York Yankee fan and he was my best friend. A heart attack silenced John Tripp three years ago today at the early age of 58.
