I was having dinner with some friends the other night and the topic came up about the behavior of students these days. The lack of respect for teachers and fellow students was the primary theme. The comments were not positive either.
I have never met Luke Guthrie but I feel like he's one of us simply by being from Quincy. This young man came from behind yesterday to win the Web.com Tour's WNB Golf Classic in Midland, Texas. He was 5 shots back when play started yesterday and he made up the difference and then some after firing a 6 under par 66 in the final round.
Toll roads are nothing new. There are several in the State of Illinois, mostly around Chicagoland and Northern Illinois. Missouri does not yet have one, but recently there has been plenty of talk about making I-70 a toll road from St. Louis to Kansas City.
With states running out of funding for roadway repairs and new construction there is no doubt in my mind we will start seeing toll roads pop up all over the place.
Every once in a while you hear of these stories about young people being denied the opportunity to play organized sports because they are to big or tall. Such was the case last week in Mesquite, Texas where a 12 year old was told he was too big to play.
While all eyes have been on the Olympics in London this week, quite a few heads were turning at the Junior Olympic in Texas last week. Six members of the Gem City Gymnastics and Tumbling team recently returned from the 2012 Junior Olympics held in Houston, Texas.
