The ‘Big Dog’ to Get Roasted to Benefit The Alzheimer’s Walk

I recently attended an Alzheimer's Association board meeting and presented an old idea for an annual fundraiser for the organization.  That idea is an annual "Celebrity Roast" of an individual in the area. It was not my intention that that person be me, but somehow it turned out that way. So the first Celebrity Roast to End Alzheimer’s will take place at the Elks Lodge on Saturday, July 22nd with yours truly, Jeff Dorsey (A.K.A... "The Big Dog”), as the “Roastee”.

The West Quincy Levee Break Took Place 23 Years Ago Today

If you were around Quincy 23 years ago today, you probably know where you were when you heard the news that the levee in West Quincy failed to hold back the mighty Mississippi River. We all knew when it happened because the news and the river spread like wildfire. What we didn't know at the time was that the levy failed thanks to the assistance of Quincy native James Scott, who was eventually convicted of "creating a catastrophe" by removing sand bags in the area of the levee break. Would the levee have held back the rising water on its own?  Only God knows.
