Five Interesting Facts You Might Not Know About Hannibal

Local history is something I always find interesting. A member of our staff has a collection of books on Hannibal, Quincy and Ralls County history, and was kind enough to let me take a look through them. The one I'm reading right now is Hannibal: The Otis Howell Collection by Steve Chou. Not only is the book full of great pictures from the late 1940s through about 1970, but the captions are incredibly informative. The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum Assuming Sponsorship of the Tom and Becky Program

The Tom and Becky Program is an annual tradition in Hannibal. Started in 1956, it was created by the Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce as a contest to select an official Tom and an official Becky to greet students visiting Hannibal from St. Louis. The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum has announced that it is assuming sponsorship of the program.
