Remembering Steve Dahl’s Anti-Disco Riot in Chicago (Video)
It was July 12, 1979 when popular Chicago DJ Steve Dahl conducted an anti-disco uprising between games of a Chicago White Sox doubleheader at Comiskey Park in Chicago. It was called Disco Demolition Night and what took place was chaos. The plan was to have a crate filled with disco records placed on the field between games and then blow it up in from of some 20-thousand fans.
But the problem was there were 50-thousand fans who showed up and many of them ran onto the field after the explosion damaging the field and forcing the postponement of the second game with the Detroit Tigers.
