Full disclosure: I am a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and have been since I was a kid. I tend to focus on football things and put little weight into off-field issues like Travis Kelce wooing Taylor Swift. However, I am starting to feel that I am now in the minority of Chiefs kingdom.

After the Chiefs suffered a shocking loss to a Raiders team they easily should have beaten, many fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to voice their displeasure and their conspiracy theories about why Taylor Swift is to blame for the teams streak of recent losses.

The general tone you'll hear from many regarding Taylor Swift and her connection to the Kansas City Chiefs is "distraction". I am of the opinion the only distraction is for TV coverage and fans in general. Is this affecting the Chiefs? I seriously doubt it.

While I'm not a "Swiftie", I don't hold her responsible for a team who suddenly can't find any rhythm or momentum on offense. Ask Patrick Mahomes and he'll likely tell you the same thing. The Kansas City Chiefs can (and I hope will) play better. All I can say is that no matter how the Kelce/Swift romance turns out is that the Chiefs better get their act together soon or there will be no Super Bowl trip to worry about in a couple months.
