Let's start by emphasizing how unpredictable weather in Missouri and Illinois is. Keep that in mind as I warn you to keep your eyes on the weather forecasts as we get closer to Thanksgiving as advanced forecasts show that could involve snow for both states right after the holiday.

Since my wife is a meteorologist, I often learn weather things I frankly would rather not know. I despise winter and snow in general, so when I heard her mention that several models showed the possibility of that white stuff falling in Missouri and Illinois, I tried to block it out.

But, there's a problem. She's not alone in her belief that weather for Missouri and Illinois is about to change big time for Missouri and Illinois. POW Weather on YouTube just gave a frightening look at what is expected to develop Thanksgiving week. It will begin with a burst of cold air and temperatures.

He shows that weather through Thanksgiving will be really decent actually. While the temps will fall, it will remain dry...until the weekend after Thanksgiving. This is the snowfall map that 3 different models agree on as of this writing.

Let me be clear. We're a week away and many variables can change. For example, one Canadian model shows snowfall mainly in northern parts of Illinois and Iowa, but not much in Missouri.

All I'm saying is watch. By early Thanksgiving week, we should have models that will begin agreeing on what and when it will happen...if anything.

The average first date of snowfall for Missouri and Illinois is December 2 according to the National Weather Service and it looks like we might just be right on schedule if not a little ahead. Happy Thanksgiving.
