I saw it again this morning on my way to work.  A runner was getting in his exercise running before the extreme heat arrives later in the day.  Not a bad idea. But what was a bad idea is that he was running in the street with a sidewalk attached. Why the street?  There must be  a reason for it.  Perhaps the streets are more level than a sidewalk? Not being  runner, I have no idea. What I do know is that your likelihood  of becoming a hood ornament for some car is greater by running in the street.  Perhaps someone can make me understand the logic here. I am sure there is a good reason.

Speaking of running without logic, today marks the beginning of the annual Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain.  They do this daily through July 14th and with it are numerous people taken to the hospital due to injuries sustained thanks to the bull winning the race. For the life of me, I will never understand what would prompt someone to try to out run a charging group of bulls. Not only do you have to outrun the bulls but also the hundreds of runners who might be in your way as well. I don't see any redeeming value to this event at all. Sooner or later the bull is gonna win and its not going to be pretty.
