The first big summer holiday of the season is coming. Are you ready to be safe?

The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E, which means Combined Accident Reduction Effort. This means every available officer will be on the road enforcing traffic laws and assisting motorists. Troop B officers will be conducting a 20 mile trooper project on U.S. Highways 24, 36, 61 and 63 throughout the troop area. Troopers will be assigned to  20 mile intervals in an effort to step up traffic enforcement with a goal of reducing traffic crashes over the holiday weekend. This is simple stuff. The bottom line is to slow down, don't drink and drive and obey the traffic laws. If you will be boating this Memorial Day Weekend keep an eye out for watercraft operators and make sure everyone in the boat is wearing an approved life jacket. It is the law.
