Happy Birthday Song is 157 Years Old Today

On Y101 Radio we take pleasure in reading the names of people with birthdays and anniversaries.  We do it at 6:50 a.m. and 7:20 a.m. every morning Monday through Friday. There are some interesting facts about  the song.  The song was composed by a schoolteacher named Mildred J. Hill on this very day back in 1859.  The rights to the song are now owned by Time-Warner Company which makes about $5000 a day or $2 million per year in royalties from the song.
