Gas Prices Continue to Rise
The price of a gallon of unleaded gas continues to go up nationwide and here at home.
Oil industry analyst Trilby Lundberg reports that gas prices have risen 12 cents a gallon in the last two weeks, with the national average for regular unleaded standing at $3.41 a gallon. Lundberg says prices have risen because of unrest in oil producing countries Venezuela and South Sudan.
In Missouri, the average price of a gallon of gas is $3.22. That’s 13 cents higher than a month ago, but still 41 cents cheaper than a year ago. The cheapest gas in Missouri is $2.94 in Dexter, while the most expensive is $3.46 in Ellington, followed by the $3.39 per gallon gas in West Quincy.
In Illinois, the average statewide price is $3.61. A month ago it was $3.40; a year ago it was $3.94. The cheapest gas in the Land of Lincoln is $3.12 in Sparta. The highest price at the pump is $4.69 in Hinsdale.
