The Friends of the Log Cabins are scheduling a workday this Saturday, May 10 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Lincoln-Era Log Cabin Village, located on Quinsippi Island, Quincy, IL. The Friends are looking for individuals or groups to volunteer to help preserve these historic structures.

If enough volunteers come to help Saturday, the projects the Friends would like to accomplish are: re-setting the Rail Fence, repairing the Herb Garden fence, spraying a preservative and bug repellent on the logs in the Log Corn Crib and finishing the “chinking” on the 1850s Herleman Log Cabin. None of these projects require any heavy lifting or experience, just a willingness to pitch in and help.

The Log Cabin Village is located on Quinsippi Island accessed via a one lane bridge from All America Park which is located off Bonansinga Drive (on the Riverfront) in Quincy. To contact the Friends of the Log Cabins, email logcabinvillage@hotmail.com or visit their web page at www.logcabinvillagequincyil.com.
