Have You Taken a Break From Facebook? Many Have

Facebook

If Facebook was anything like Friendster and MySpace it would be only available in  Malaysia or reduced to a Justin Timberlake vanity product.

Yes, the Harvard-born social network has beat the odds and looks like it will be around for the long-haul. In fact, the latest debate surrounding Facebook is what happens to a member’s page when they die.

There may be, however, some signs that Facebook might not be as permanent as it currently appears. A new survey from the Pew Research Center found the 27 percent of American Facebook users plan to spend less time on the site in 2013. (Which, as we all know, is easier said than done.)

On the flipside, only three percent plan to spend more time cyberstalking their cyber-friends.

Perhaps more telling is that 61 percent say that they have already taken a “break” from Facebook of “several weeks or more.”

The most common reason given for these Facebook vacations was that a user had become too busy in their real life. Lack of interest in the content and concerns about gossip were also cited.
