Missouri 79 is temporarily closed at the entrance to the Mark Twain Cave and Campground as crews clean up following a derailment.

Four hopper cars carrying coal went off the tracks just north of Continental Cement. Three tipped over on their sides and spilled. Railroad crews are working from the highway to clean up the derailment and spill.

A detour is set up at Routes T and N between Hannibal and Saverton.

MODOT expects the closure to last until mid-afternoon.  Check out MoDOT's traveler information map online for updates.
