For over a decade, Amy Vaughn, owner and founder of Be The Change For Your Community, LLC, developed and ran a program for at-risk youth in our area.  During that time, she realized the impact of service-to-work programming on the middle school aged population.  In August of last year, she took a leap of faith as she left the local program and launched her own business, called “Be The Change For Your Community.”

Be The Change is a new program created by Vaughn for middle school aged children. She will be serving as a consultant to other communities to teach and train them how to start, launch and maintain these programs.

Vaughn has recently entered a small business grant competition through FedEx to help her start putting her program into practice.  FedEx will be giving one $50,000 grant, and nine other smaller grants to small businesses across the country, and Vaughn wants to be one of the recipients.

If awarded the $50,000 grant, she would be able to offer her consulting services free of charge to two communities, who would then serve as pilot programs for the business.

You can help her organization by doing the following:

One vote per email address is allowed daily.  The top 700 vote-getters from across the country will be narrowed down by a FedEx committee to 100 by April 5, and then the top 100 will be given another task to complete.  The final winners will be announced on April 29, 2019.
