The YMCA of Hannibal has stepped up as a drop off location for items needed by the medical community and others during the COVID-19 outbreak.

They call it the Helping Hands project, and it’s in response to seeing people on social media with items to donate and not knowing where to drop them off.

The list of items that can be dropped off includes homemade masks, bleach, Clorox wipes, rubbing alcohol and aloe vera gel.

Health care providers have also asked for home pulse ox machines, old blood pressure cuffs, thermometers and stethoscopes.

Items will be given to local nursing homes, hospitals and essential businesses in need.

Items can be dropped off at the front entrance to the Y from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Or you can call when you pull up and an employee will take the items curbside.
