Would You Deactiviate Your Facebook Account for Money?
The social media giant will pay you money to deactivate your account during the election season. Why?
According to theverge.com, Facebook is working with a research company to find out how social media impacts presidential elections.
“To continue to amplify all that is good for democracy on social media, and mitigate against that which is not, we need more objective, dispassionate, empirically grounded research,” Facebook explained in a blog post. “That’s why today we are announcing a new research partnership to better understand the impact of Facebook and Instagram on key political attitudes and behaviors during the US 2020 elections.”
So, in order to accomplish this, Facebook will pay for users to deactivate their accounts, you will be paid by how many weeks you decide to deactivate your account. Payments start at $10 and go up to $20, you can either deactivate your Instagram account of Facebook account.
There are estimates from Facebook the between 200,000 to 400,000 users will opt in to the project. They are trying to see is social media influences people’s decision on who they vote for. My question is, if people opt into this project, they should have to give up all their social media accounts. Twitter, Instagram, everything to get the full effect on how social media influences people’s decision when voting. So, would you? Would you give up social media for six weeks, and get paid for it. Or, if the better question, could you?
