Northeast Missouri and western Illinois are in for a mixed bag of wintry precipitation this weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the area from 6 p.m. Friday through noon Saturday. The advisory calls for a combination of snow, sleet and perhaps freezing rain, beginning late Friday afternoon.

Forecasters say hazardous travel conditions are a possibility, especially on bridges, overpasses and untreated roads.

As of Friday morning, the specific forecast for Hannibal/Quincy calls for a slight chance of sleet late Friday afternoon, with a better chance of snow and sleet and then snow Friday night. Two to four inches of accumulation is possible.

Snow is expected to continue through the morning Saturday, with as much as another half-inch accumulation.

Once the snow quits, temperatures are expected to get to 34 Saturday, drop to 10 Saturday night, only rise to 14 Sunday, and sink to minus-two Sunday night.
